NIKMOODY & FRIENDS: More than just a show!

Long Island's place in hip-hop history was once secure. From legendary artists and producers to influential radio stations and record labels, this island played a significant role in shaping the culture. But somewhere along the way, many of us started waiting. Waiting for a co-sign. Waiting for a venue. Waiting for someone from outside our community to recognize what was already happening here.

That's what made Nick Moody and Friends stand out. Instead of waiting for an opportunity, Nick created one. By bringing together a lineup of talented artists, booking a room, and building a space for people to perform, connect, and be heard, he reminded everyone in attendance that sometimes the best way to move a scene forward is to stop asking for permission and start creating the moment yourself.

From the moment I walked in, there was a surprising sense of peace. I was greeted by a few familiar faces I'd only known online, and suddenly we were sharing the same space. A busy merch table with a long line reminded me that fandom still exists. Before long, NIKMOODY himself stopped by with a smile fit for the man of the hour. I congratulated him briefly and let him get back to work. This was HIS night.

As the room filled and the lights dimmed, the audience settled in for an evening of live music. St. Louis artist Dru Kelly opened the show and immediately captured the room's attention. His excitement to perform on Long Island was matched by the crowd, who seemed genuinely appreciative to be part of the experience.

KingNova followed with a strong set, taking a moment to acknowledge his mother in attendance before sharing an unreleased record with the audience.

One of my favorite discoveries of the night was Marlo Demore. Despite never hearing his music, I was instantly drawn in by his humor and personality, both of which translated naturally into his performance.

Next up was OneTakeCarter, an artist I'm very familiar with from my side of Long Island. As expected, he brought tremendous energy to the stage and delivered a memorable set packed with strong song choices.

NIKMOODY closed the night backed by a live band. Fresh off the release of his new project, "AREN'T WE ALL," he had the crowd fully engaged from start to finish, bringing the evening to a fitting conclusion.

One thing that stood out throughout the night was how many artists took time to thank Moody for the opportunity. It was a reminder that his impact extends beyond his own music. He's not only an artist but a visionary, creating opportunities for others and helping strengthen Long Island's scene. HONESTLY "The room felt less like a concert and more like a community gathering."
