As a Long Islander, I've spent years watching incredible artists work in the shadows without recognition. I'm talking song after great song going undetected by the music capital... just 40 minutes away. But not in 2026. I'm seeing artists take control of their moment, no longer waiting to be picked. In fact, it's been motivation for me—to simply highlight the talent right under my nose , because I know the feeling of not being picked.
So when a message to attend the On The Radar Long Island taping arrived, it felt like more than just an invitation. It felt like a front-row seat to a special moment we’ve worked towards. Walking into that room, I wasn't surrounded by strangers—I was surrounded by artists whose journeys I'd documented, interviewed, and believed in long before this opportunity arrived. Their excitement reminded me that we were all part of the same story, with each of us playing a different role in moving Long Island's culture forward.
