LISTEN TO INTERVIEW IN BROWSER!!
This week, I had the opportunity to sit down with So Rich—an artist, youth advocate, and emerging cultural leader. Our conversation wasn’t just insightful; it was inspiring. It revealed the spirit of a man who has transformed adversity into artistry and purpose.
We began by discussing his roots. Rich spoke proudly of his hometown, emphasizing how the community and environment helped shape both his worldview and his music. What started as a love for listening quickly became a calling and career. There was a moment, he recalled, when music shifted from being background noise into an outlet, and even better, a personal mission.
As the interview deepened, we addressed a particularly challenging chapter in his life—an event that tested his freedom and sense of self. Without going into graphic detail, Rich shared how the experience of spending time in prison became the catalyst for a larger transformation. Rather than allowing pain to define him, he used it as fuel to keep hope, and later guide others.
Today So Rich is working tirelessly, empowering spaces for youth to make a similar transformation - and it surly hasn’t gone unnoticed. He has been honored with the New York State Commendation Award and named a “Beacon of Hope” by one of the nation’s most respected fraternities. For Rich, these accolades represent more than personal success—they affirm a mission grounded in service and community. Naturally, this influenced the music. His approach to creating has matured with more intent behind the lyrics, but Rich made it absolutely clear it was HIS space for expression.
We also explored his business acumen. So Rich refers to himself as an “Executive Artist,” a term that reflects the intentional strategy behind his brand. He’s not only creating content—he’s building infrastructure. From assembling a dedicated team to making bold business decisions that later prove psychic like. He spoke about his thriving event space The Black House, to his team of turntable masters. Mr. Lova & Crelatioz were two energetic DJs I got to speak with during the interview. Their contribution to this event space is something Rich is extremely passionate and thankful for.
When mentioning So Rich, legacy isn’t just about recognition or success—it’s about making a lasting, positive impact. When the microphone is off and the audience has gone home, he hopes to be remembered as someone who stood for something greater than himself.
