Splash: Making Moves on His Own
Every so often, I’m blessed with the opportunity to speak with an artist more than once. Splash is one who warranted a second sit-down. See, over the years we’ve built a respected working relationship, with real life always serving as the backdrop. So when he stopped by The Play It Cool Show to bring me his NEW remix to “Someone 2 Luv U,” ft. RON E & ALI BABY ...our interview blurred those very lines.
The both of us are fathers, and the last time we spoke, his amazing son was right by his side. This time around, his youngster was out making moves of his own. Funny enough, Splash said his current career status is in that same space: MAKING MOVES ON HIS OWN! That opened the door for us to talk about more than just a new record—we talked growth, independence, fatherhood and what it looks like to keep pushing forward on your own terms.
I have to admit how grateful I am to have access to such amazing artists right here where I’m from, and Splash is by far one of the most personable and unique. There’s something special about getting to interview someone again because you’re not just hearing their story—you get to witness the progression. And progression is exactly what I saw this time around.
Now, he was also VERY good at dodging my “WHERE’S THE ALBUM?!” question. 😂 But I made sure he knows one thing: the Island needs it.
