Recently, the Instagram account @OHYOURAPFORREAL dropped a list highlighting the top rappers from Nassau and Suffolk Counties, along with a few honorable mentions. I decided to take that list a step further and break down each artist in a two-part video series—not just to talk about who made the list, but to showcase the stories, styles, and impact behind the names. As someone who lives and breathes this culture on the radio and in the community, I feel it’s important to make sure Long Island artists understand just how valuable they are beyond an opinionated ranking. And to every artist who wasn’t mentioned, know this: your contributions matter too. The scene only thrives because of the many voices, perspectives, and sounds that make Long Island hip hop what it is today.
